No matter how you know us – whether you’re a client, considering becoming a client, or interested in joining our team – there’s a lot about Ceeva you may not know.
That’s why we have created a series of spotlight posts about the people on our team. In this article, we chatted with Sean Cassley. We learned several fun facts that most don’t know about him, such as his love for snowboarding.
Are you ready to dive in and get to know Sean?
Hi there, I’m Sean Cassley.
I am a Network Account Engineer here at Ceeva. My wheelhouse is anything from desktop support to hardware procurement to backup server infrastructure networks, and anything in between.
I’m often on the road instead of at my desk, which is not something people think of when they think of IT support. A pretty standard day for me is to go to one of our clients, say a manufacturing facility. I'll be up there for a couple of hours, doing everything from getting a waterjet machine running to running cables to having meetings about cybersecurity and NIST requirements, all that fun stuff.
Then in the afternoon, I'll usually go support another client on-site for the rest of the day. Maybe they have a new building or something, so I get their wireless network setup, or I get their new backup solution installed.
I’m probably in our actual office less than eight hours a week!
I’ve been at Ceeva for four years now.
Before I joined Ceeva, I lived out in Ohio. I built custom gaming computers as a tech support manager for about three years. I built several hundred different ones, and some even had custom water loops to cool the machine down.
And then I moved back to Pittsburgh, which is where I'm originally from actually. I found a position open at Ceeva, and I actually started on the TSS (Technical Support Services) team, which was our Tier One support team. About two years ago, I moved up to engineer.
In IT, the reality is that some days are busier than others. There's no way to get around that. Sometimes there are major tech emergencies that need to be resolved – that's just the nature of the beast.
But the scene here at Ceeva is great. We have resources that are good at just about every IT aspect you can think of, and everybody works really well together. Without a doubt, the team is fantastic.
I also love fixing things in general, that part of the job really appeals to me. I grew up like that. I like going in, seeing something wrong, and figuring out how to make it better.
This is a tough question because the answer is, “It depends.” Every company has different needs.
Some people think of IT as simply something they need to get their emails to work. However, from a business perspective, IT is a forced multiplier to help your employees work better and faster. Some people need help understanding that IT is a business investment that is going to pay off in the long run.
It’s the difference between one hour with a computer versus eight hours with pen and paper.
Most people at Ceeva know me pretty well, we're close. But to answer your question, I really enjoy snowboarding. My dad and I actually went snowboarding in Colorado last year.
I’m also very, very handy at home. I renovated most of my kitchen by myself a couple months ago. For my next project, I’ll probably be putting in a new bathroom.
It’s further out from Pittsburgh, near Seven Springs, but the Ohiopyle is a great outdoor park area.
The other thing that a lot of people don't realize about Pittsburgh is that it’s similar to Chicago. Obviously it’s on a smaller scale, but there's 50 different little neighborhoods that each have their own thing. You have your hipster neighborhood over in Lawrenceville, etc., so you can go explore each community and see what you like best.
I have a dog park near my house that I probably spend an hour in every day.
