If you’re one of our clients or partners, you might know our team’s names in passing. But there is likely a lot about our team members you may not know.
That’s why we have created a series of spotlight posts about the people who make up Ceeva. For this article, we sat down with Jay Pedrotti. He told us all about how he loves Electronic Dance Music (EDM), his history with other Ceeva team members, and where he would go in the world right now if he could.
Let’s get to know Jay!
Hey there, I’mJay Pedrotti.
I am one of Ceeva’s Senior Network Engineers!
I wear a lot of hats, I do everything from basic troubleshooting all the way up to network planning and redevelopment. The level of redesign really depends on the client and their needs, sometimes their networks need to be simplified, others fortified.
People on the Ceeva team and our clients also come to me for help, especially with printers and hardware. That’s why they call me the “Printer Whisperer,” because I can coax printers to do what I want them to do. I’m great with computer hardware – I regularly give recommendations to clients from my hardware experience.
I'm also known in the office for horrible puns, and even worse dad jokes.
I started in January of 2008. I’m one of the more long-term employees here. I would have actually started earlier but the previous company I had didn't want to let me go!
As for what I did before – while I grew up in Pittsburgh, I live in West Virginia now. There's a little computer shop up on the hill from me, and that’s where I used to work.
Basically, I did most of the same things I do now at Ceeva, just with 2008 technology. We dealt with a lot of just residential customers, rather than businesses
Well, I went to ITT Technical Institute for my networking degree. And one of my classmates was a good friend of mine and worked at Ceeva. He told me they needed somebody, and that I was the best fit for the position.
I came in, did an interview, and we clicked. At Ceeva, I do almost exactly what I did previously but with businesses, not residential folks. To me, that was another good selling point because I really wanted to get into B2B IT more.
My dad was actually the Network Coatings and Resins IT Manager for PPG. So, I've always had a computer in front of me – since as early as fourth grade!
Even though everyone dislikes this phrasing, we are kind of like a family. Even the new people we've recently hired have fit perfectly into our dynamic. In some places I've worked at, it’s been an entirely different atmosphere.
And we all care about our clients. We're truly willing to bend over backward to make sure that they get what they need, they’re not just a paycheck to us.
Some of our clients have my cell phone and we’re really good friends with our main contact. We'll even go camping or dofun events with them! With some clients, when they call I have to ask “Is this friend Sarah or work Sarah?” to make sure we’re on the same page.
If you’re visiting, you need to ridethe incline! Enjoy the view, and then I would say go toPrimanti’s after.
I love music. I listened to almost all genres and things like that. I don't go out to concerts much. Just because I have twin 17-year-old girls and a 13-year-old boy. Their social batteries die out quickly!
But I absolutely love EDM and techno, and one of my favorite artists is Alan Walker. It picks me up. I knowAshley loves heavy metal, but there's just something about EDM that gets me going.
I would take my family to the Florida Keys. Earlier this year, one of my twins and I in Scouts went on a week-long, high adventure where we stayed on a boat for an entire week and went snorkeling.
I bought an underwater camera that takes video and photographs, we got amazing pictures. We were literally on a sailboat the entire time. The program went through the Boy Scouts of America, a program called Sea Base.
